Dear Mr. Edwards
I wrote this to Chuck Edwards Congressman Chuck Edwards serves as the U.S. representative for North Carolina’s 11th District, which covers 16 counties in the state’s western mountains. https://edwards.house.gov/about
Preamble:
I made several edited copies to determine and decide what to say it and how to say it. Why? Fear… I’m afraid of some kind of sanction from the current administration. We have never experienced living under a dictatorship in America and I never imagined that it could ever happen in America, but it is. It’s possibly not as heinous as those dictatorships America always fought against and we can only hope that it or we never goes that far but Trump is digging in and essentially telling us that he and only he is in charge. Now those people who identify with him and want him to exercise full power are apparently identifying with him as their leader and think of feel like they are sharing in that power. It is a white supremacy identity that asserts that somehow white peoples are the group that is under threat from others. Others that include; immigrants, Gays, Jews, Blacks and Liberals… Liberals have taken up the cause of the minority somehow believing that the sum of the minorities would equal more than the solid block of white, gender and Christian identity. Liberals, who ironically want to make space for everyone including Conservatives, are being targeted as the enemy. Liberals by their nature are individuals who tend to agree but disagree with everyone about everything while Conservatives tend to coalesce over the basic issues and push details aside for what they see as the greater good. Their slogans sum it up in simple terms; Pro Life, Marriage is between one man and one woman, America First, Love it or Leave it. Conservatives appear to take a team spirit approach to everything. You either Win or Lose and Winning is the only goal. How you play the game is for sissies. Trump might be a little rough around the edges but he’s our team captain and he don’t take no lip. He’s the boss man and we are his loyal supporters.
Liberals believe their cause is ethically and morally justified with or without god. Conservatives put God and Country First.
Democracy is a a concept, an idea and an ideal in the minds of liberals. They are obsessed with fairness and inclusion…. Democracy is complex, based on three branches of government excercising a respectful and cooperative balance of power. Right now Democracy appears to be being put aside in the wake of a winner take all ideological simplicity where might makes right and he who claims the power, has the power and effectively is given the power by those who believe, however deceived, that they share in that power. Like when your team wins the Superbowl you were making the touchdowns and bringing home the multimillion dollar paycheck. A lot of Trump supporters are the victims of his policies and yet they think they won the Super Bowl.
The one thing that matters to Everyone is the Economy and where they fit in it. Democrats used to represent the working class while Republicans represented the business class. There was a yin and yang that traded back and forth. Democrats forgot the working man by drifting into and then being sucked down into a minority rights game of tag. Where each minority demands equal rights and equal time. The irony is that there is very little empathy between minority groups. Hence a lot of time and effort herding cats while, in contrast a simple dog whistle engages and enrages the pack. Now the pack has committed Murder… I saw a Pro Life bumper sticker Thou shalt not kill.
So this, the top one, is the Text I eventually sent to Chuck Edwards. I overcame my inhibitions and decided that I would exercise my rights of free and responsible speech.
Dear Mr. Edwards,
I am a white male blessed to be born in America 77 years ago and living in beautiful NC for 15 years. I love America, always have, always will, but suddenly I am living in fear and shame. This administration is not making America Great, it is making America Hate creating a very sad and frightening state of affairs. Surely there are more effective ways to protect our borders without punishing those who have chosen to build their lives here, much as our ancestors did. For those who commit crimes, let there be appropriate consequences but for those who work hard to build better lives, let them live in peace.

However, I find myself experiencing a profound sense of fear and shame in the current administration’s actions.
The administration’s policies are not fostering a sense of national unity and prosperity; instead, they are inciting hatred and division among the American people. This situation is deeply concerning and has instilled a profound sense of unease within me.
