Mudita - vicarious happiness - one Step Beyond Empathy
Mudita is a Buddhist concept meaning “sympathetic joy” or “vicarious happiness.” It is the genuine delight we feel in witnessing or celebrating others’ success, well-being, or good fortune, without envy or comparison. It’s one of the four sublime states, alongside loving-kindness, compassion, and equanimity. Cultivating mudita allows us to connect more deeply with others, fostering a mindset of abundance and mutual happiness.
