Dear friends,

All are invited to participate in the final meeting of our Death Cafe group that will be on Monday, September 21st starting at 4. We will direct everyone to the meeting room opposite the lounge where we have met.

Following are four comments from participants about Death Cafe. We will bring paper and pens for anyone who wants to write their own responses and suggestions for continuing based on what we have learned.

My first reaction is a degree of sadness even though we talked about it and its inevitability, it still carries a hint of shock…a little like death itself. You and Diane have done such a tremendous job hosting and facilitating the Death Cafe, Your group brought people together in a common cause and the friendships that grew out of the monthly meetings will continue. You made it easier to talk about life’s most difficult subjects and this required and inspired the foundation of trust. You helped us realize that we are not alone in our suffering of loss but also by talking and sharing we can keep our loved ones with us.

Thank you both for your faithful and loving service as leaders of the Death Cafe. I'm glad you were there when my husband's death was so new. I know many people have been helped by these meetings as I was.

Thanks for summarizing the history of Death Cafe. One suggestion would be to have this subject for a Wednesday Night Live program [at Trinity] and use it to solicit ideas for the future, i.e., reference material availability, counseling resources. etc.

I would love a group on aging, the changes it brings and how we are dealing with them, ideas to embrace and work with all the aging challenges, so we can help each other grow old maybe gracefully.
