My YouTube hobby

I’ve never really thought of myself as having hobbies and to that extent in many ways, maybe I’ve never had a hobby but now suddenly as I look at myself and what I’m doing with my time, YouTube has become my biggest hobby…Yes, if I was asked to list hobbies in the past, I would probably say photography because that’s what I like to do is take pictures and hundreds of pictures close-ups of flowers,Candid shots of friends and sometimes strangers…I took pictures in New York City when I was a kid and I still have those pictures and I consider them now classics…A guy playing the bongos in the park…A guy looking back at me over his shoulder with big red, curly hair and a beard…I’ve always felt the push and pull between wanting to take pictures and the inhibition to not take them because I might get in trouble or rouse someone’s anger..So there’s no telling how many actually good pictures I’ve missed now I take pictures of my food when I eat out at restaurants I use them to illustrate my reviews…I’ve made a part of my job to do positive reviews on Google and I get a great deal of enjoyment out of it…Now that I’m saying this, I have to mention that YouTube is owned by Google…Just because the company is big doesn’t mean it’s bad and to me Google is good. I use the maps every day to get places. I use the search engine to find out things and I use YouTube now to express myself. Instead of having one channel that expresses one thingI have several ideas going several categories we might say. Wordle is my daily challenge, not so much solving the puzzle which I take for granted and I used different resources available, but it’s all about finding similes or metaphors for the word once I’ve solved it and then some kind of music to go with it and all of this to try to learn editing skills so I can put the video on YouTube…As per the article below, there is a lot of junk on YouTube yes and who am I to judge but there’s also a lot of great stuff very skilled things and it’s a very open incredibly open venue where anyone can express almost anything with the notable exceptions Of just hate and lies…Why would anybody wanna do that? I guess that falls under the category of human nature, which I’m also exploring primarily my own….Which is why I’m putting this as a blog post under Suddenly single all of this YouTube included is how I’m coping with being alone…I have the love and support of my friends and family and that’s how I’m coping and then I’m trying to find resources within myself and that’s kind of a determination that I have. So the article about YouTube below and the YouTube video that I’m gonna include here shows that I’m somewhere in the middle…And really that to me I’m a very average person. In fact I often say my goal in life is to work my way up to average….But I have this incredibly cute little dog and that’s what this video is and it’s gotten over 400 views which is the most I’ve gotten of any of the videos I’ve done which apparently is far above the average views, which is only like 41. So again, I’m somewhere between a complete failure and a huge success. I’m just trying to get by day by day and knowing that my days are numbered try to leave a positive footprint behind me.

To unveil this side of YouTube, McGrady and his colleagues built a tool that dials videos at random. The scraper tried more than 18 trillion potential URLs before it collected a big enough sample for real scientific analysis. Among the findings the researchers estimate that the median video has been watched just 41 times; posts with more than 130 views are actually in the top third of the service's most popular content. In other words, the vast majority of YouTube is practically invisible.

Most of these videos aren't meant for us to see. They exist because people need a digital attic to store their memories. It's an internet unshaped by the pressures of clicks and algorithms – a glimpse into a place where content doesn't have to perform, where it can simply exist.
