Pete and Tess and Hendersonville took on a whole new identity from what we had known in Spartanburg. Friends of Tess actually of Barry, Robert and Carolyn invited us to go listen to a lecture by a guy named Spong at the little church across the street from us. We went to the Lecture enjoyed it and then started thinking about joining this church which we did soon thereafter. That church, the First Congregational Church of Christ, Actually changed our lives again in somewhat profound ways. We met a couple named John and Karel and from there we met several other people through them. That would include Bob and Diane, Dave and Joanna and Richard Weidler the minister. The church went through many changes, not all of which were good and we left the church, but remained friends with the people I just mentioned and also I made friends with Joe and Peggy through the Bike Club so amazingly enough, we became very socially connected and active through the hiking and biking and going downtown for dinner at one of the mini restaurants that we love here those including Hannah’s, Black Rose and Mezzaluna. All three of which are still our favorites. I started the website called 1000 Reasons to Love Hendersonville because Tess and I were so enamored with Hendersonville. We had visited here many times before moving and it was kind of our Mecca that we expired to and eventually we were able to buy our home here.. Even that was a minor miracle of being able to get the financing to do it. At that point, I had bought a townhome for Lauren to live in because she had never gone away to school and I wanted her to have that experience of living outside the home. We had Dover Road as a rental that we had capped with the idea that that would help us pay off Waterford Drive. We eventually sold Waterford and sold the property at carriage Park and all of that allowed us to live at 210 Watch Creek Dr. But it was actually inheriting money from the passing of mom and dad and the selling of the home in Dere that allowed me to pay off watch Greek drive and also pay for Lauren’s Student Loan. I remembered working out the paperwork and explaining the test that if we paid off these expenses that are monthly income would be spared about $8000 a month Which we could live on and put into savings Which is what we did. We never felt like we had a lot of money and we never spent money like we had a lot of money. We were always very careful with our money and modest in our desires. We paid for the house and we bought nice furniture at Tyson’s in Black Mountain. I remember that day because I couldn’t believe we were actually buying furniture. And we went on two big trips together Yellowstone, which was really the big one a 10 day trip where we stayed at the Old Faithful Inn and at the Yellowstone Lake Inn. This was the trip the test really dreamed about and really wanted to do and it was probably one of the most beautiful experiences we had together.. With the exception of our honeymoon in Charleston, which was pure romance. But this time we took a trip as full adult adults that had now been married over 30 years with a daughter who had now grown up and was married so it was our first time honeymoon again as a couple. At this point in time test was starting to feel her age. She was not physically strong or active but when we got to Yellowstone, she said OK let’s get started. I was amazed by the energy that she showed and she was just full of excitement and energy as we toured around Yellowstone and looked at the geysers and all the beautiful scenery. She was so taken by all that and of course I took 1 million pictures I took along with us every camera I owned packed them backpacks and taken out and set up on tripods at times just to keep taking pictures when we got home. I put the pictures together. We put the pictures together listening to the circle of life and I remember that feeling when we were listening to the music and watching the pictures before I did any editing and how they just seemed to come together and describe the music or the music describe the pictures and that was probably our greatest video that we did together that and Lauren‘s wedding in Whistler so that was actually our third big trip the wedding in Whistler that Lauren decided she wanted to have a destination wedding course for me. I thought well why don’t you get married here? You know that we have nice places in Hendersonville and this just was another example of Lauren wanting to do what she wanted to do and we didn’t stop her and it turned into one of the greatest experiences of our lives.
